Anaphylaxis: Epinephrine treatment
Last updated: 03/04/2015
The ACLS dose of epinephrine is 1 mg IV. Similarly, the recommendation for anesthesia providers treating anaphylactic shock in the OR is 0.5 to 1.0 mg. Treatment for hypotension or bronchospasm – 10 to 50mcg increments, repeat as needed with escalating doses.
In addition to epinephrine, treatment recommendations for anaphylaxis include stopping any possible offending antigens (including removal of latex products), 100% Fi02, intubate early as needed, consider aborting surgery, massive fluid resuscitation, and 4-8 puffs albuterol.
