Definition
In volume control modes, the change (slope) of the airway pressure waveform decreases as more volume enters the lungs (an resistance to inflow) decreases. By contrast, in pressure control modes, pressure is constant across each breath (and the slope of the flow waveform changes throughout the ventilatory cycle).
