Grade I – full view of glottis (can see 100% of black hole)
Grade 2a – partial view of glottis (can less than 100% of black hole)
Grade 2b – only posterior extremity of glottis or only arytenoid cartilages visualized (cannot see black hole but can see floppy tissue below epiglottis)
Grade 3 – can only see epiglottis and none of glottis (cannot see floppy tissue below epiglottis)
Grade 4 – neither glottis nor epiglottis seen (cannot see anything)
